we just run a preseeded debian installation here. If it fails, it's typically
caused by an unstable internet connection or an inconsistent debian mirror.

maybe you have the chance to go to a shell prompt after the timeout and do a

'cat /var/log/syslog'

to retrieve more details, about what was going wrong.
