[elbe-devel] rework of my current devel patch queue

Hi,

this queue merges the patches from 'python3 compatibility' and the various
fixes posted in the [PATCH xx/13] series.

It's based on devel/elbe-3.0 [c9ac2fdbef41].

The repost includes the unreviewed patches and the v2 patches as discussed.

Changes in v2:
  - removed comments about testing in examples
  - use name instead of multiname in implement version check
  - argument parsing is now handled the same in all subcommands
  - improve commit message for iter() implementation in treeutils
  - fixed the bugs introduced by replacie static string functions v1
  - don't cast int to int in remove usage of long variables
